Week 7: Broccoli

Welcome Everybody, to the Second Ingredient of this Week! This time we will be learning more about the Ingredient of Broccoli!



Fun Facts about Broccoli:

1. It is believed that Broccoli originated from Italy and was discovered by the Romans.


2. The Broccoli also belongs in the same family of Vegetables as another previous Vegetable we have learnt about, Cauliflower!


3. Researchers believe that the best way to eat Broccoli is Raw!


4. When a Broccoli Plant is harvested late, Yellow Flowers will begin popping up, and these Yellow Flowers make for an unpleasant taste.


5. Broccoli's are also very high in fibre, meaning that if you are on a diet eat more Broccoli! as they help with digestion and have little calories.


6. Another Plant named Broccolini, is actually a plant that is a hybrid between Broccoli and Kale!




Nutritional Facts of Broccoli:
Broccoli is very high in Vitamin A and Vitamin D. Vitamin D is rarely found in other Vegetables to be a rich Vitamin. The Dominant Mineral in Broccoli is Calcium meaning Broccoli also helps support Bones.
