Week 11: Pumpkin

Hi Everyone! This Week, Pumpkin is going to be our next Chosen Ingredient!



Fun Facts about Pumpkin:

1. Pumpkins are mostly Orange, Although they can be in the Color of either Yellow, Red, White or Green. 


2. Pumpkins are also often classified as a fruit, although after it is cooked it is more known as a Vegetable!


3. Around 450 Million Kg of Pumpkin is produced in the U.S.A alone!


4. The Average Weight of a Pumpkin is 6 Kilograms. Although some Pumpkins can go over 450 Pounds in Weight.


5. Pumpkin's are also a versatile Ingredient, as they can be used in both Sweet and Savoury Dishes.


6. As most of you also may know, Pumpkin is the Symbol of Halloween.




Nutritional Facts of Pumpkin:
Pumpkin is very rich in Vitamins A,C and D. Calcium and Iron are also prominent Minerals in Pumpkins. Pumpkins are also very high in Protein, although they also contain a large amount of Carbohydrate!
