Week 9: Horenso

This Week, alongside Leeks, We will also be learning about another Vegetable. This time the Horenso Plant which is from the family of the Spinach.



Fun Facts about Horenso:

1. The Horenso Spinach is the equivalent of Spinach, although the Horenso Plants are mostly grown in Japan.

2. The Horenso Spinach features prominently in Japanese Cooking as a Side Dish and a Sauce!

3. Horenso can also be grown in only cool and moist Conditions, which explains the limited Countries producing Horenso itself.

4. Unlike the Spinach Plant, Horenso is not meant to be eaten canned or processed as it should be eaten fresh!

5. The Horenso Spinach is also not as well-known as it's Spinach Counterparts, although it's benefits outweigh that of the Spinach itself.

Nutritional Facts of Horenso:
Horenso Spinach is very high in Calcium and Iron. Therefore it is able to support Bone Growth and Stability. Aside from that the Horenso Spinach is also very rich in Vitamins A and C.
